Meet the Dogs!

Rosie
I started with Rosie books because she touched my heart as she inspired me to write. Sadly Rosie could not become a Mommy Dog. Her destiny is to reach humans by her books. She has perfected that “teacher look,” you know the one where the teacher looks at you over the top of her glasses-the “don’t mess with me, kid“ look? The Girl has spunk and definite ideas of what she desires. The angelic side of Rosie charms everyone with her outpouring of love. She is a natural therapy dog with a deeply empathetic nature. Rosie expresses emotions with her hugs and loving gaze to her loping gait with goofy grins to her still body with philosophical stares. She fascinates me, and I hope you enjoy reading about this sweetly intelligent but strongly opinionated Golden Girl.

Kimmie
Kimmie is our pleaser; she will do anything to make us happy. Although quiet, and most comfortable at home with us, she is very good at expressing her likes and dislikes. She developed the habit of digging her paw into our leg to get our attention. Or she will happily bring me one of my crocs. We admit she is a bit quirky. For instance, she tested in the top 3 % of all Goldens for amazing hips, yet her feet never leave the floor. She does not jump nor swim. Kimmie aced her therapy dog test but does not like being the center of attention, so she stays home while the other dogs volunteer. Kimmie had one litter of spectacular pups., but it did not bring her joy although she did her very best in true Kimmie fashion. Kimmie is my husband’s heart dog. They are deeply bonded. Stay tuned for Kimmie books!

Jazz
Jazz is the perfect dog except at dinner and walk time. Then she barks, “Now! Now! Now!, Human!” Jazz is our most vocal dog who always has “stories” to tell us. She is filled with expressive facial expressions as she grunts, groans, and carries on her dog conversations. Jazzy has moved with me four times, was a mommy dog four times, and has been a therapy dog since she was one. She would go to school with me when I taught, comforted children in the hospital battling cancer, and now listens to children read at the library. Jazz has deciphered if she gets up early with us, she receives special treats, attention, and outside time. She knows humans take a lot of training, so she continues to work us to improve her reality. Jazzy loves to roll in the grass and to retrieve in the water. She plants herself in front of the stove during meal prep. She is my loyal companion- my Heart Dog. THE RAINBOW DOG is my first Jazzy book.

Orvie
We really struggled with the decision to keep one of Kimmie’s puppies. Four Goldens is A LOT! But Orvie is worth it! No regrets. Kimmie is thrilled to have one of her babies. Orvie is Rosie’s partner in mischief, and even Jazz plays like a puppy with our boy. He is the quintessential golden: sweet, calm, athletic… a retrieving fiend obsessed with water. Even as a little puppy he slept with an ear in his water bowl. I had to write THE DOG WHO COULDN’T SWIM. I could not believe this athletic boy sank like a stone when he finally got to plunge into a lake. He touched my heart with his bravery and persistence as he to learned how to swim. Being so photogenic, I can’t stop taking photos and videos of our fourth fur baby. Stay tuned for more stories about this Golden Boy.
