Hola Santa Fe! Looking Forward to the Handsprings Conference!
The SCBWI New Mexico Handsprings Conference is this weekend. I am raring to go!
Originally I was going to go to the National SCBWI Event in NYC in February. But come on! Santa Fe in beautiful autumn or NYC in Frigid February? Tough choice. heh heh:)
Add to that I believe it was as signpost. My husband and I currently live in Northern Cali, a place we truly love, but the cost of living is trés cher. When I hear the rest of the US complaining about food, gas and housing, I think come live in California, Peeps.
Soooo this financial reality has led my husband and me to look outside of our amazing state. We have come up with two places that have serious potential. One is Waldport/Newport Oregon area (John and I are total Ocean People.) The other is Ta Dah! Santa Fe! Yes, I know. One is coastal rainforest. The other is high desert. Yet, both have serious potential.
If anyone lives or has lived in either place, we would LOVE your input.
But I digress.
Back to the Conference. I have a good feeling about it. It is well-organized and has a strong faculty. Susan Metallo Olivier, the main contact person, has been wonderful times ten-so helpful and welcoming. I am waiting for feedback on YOU’LL ALWAYS BE MY LITTLE PUPPY from famous author, Lesa Cline-Ransome. Sandra Proudman of the Gallt and Zacker Literary Agency gave me amazing feedback not once but twice on ORVIE FINDS HIS PAW POWER! She is the kind of agent I would be so lucky to have. Fingers crossed I receive some positive feedback as I continue my author journey.
So send me some postive vibes, Santa Fe way. This might be our Fit, creatively and geographically. Stay tuned!
