Constructive Criticism is Humbling Yet Essential

Receiving constructive criticism might be a blow to the ego, but it is essential to becoming better at the craft.

I have had a week of getting a lot of necessary feedback on my picture books. One more session on Saturday!

When I present a manuscript to an editor or an agent, I ,of course, want them to say, “ I LOVE IT!” However, usually they give excellent feedback and send me back to revise, revise, and revise.

Sometimes it is emotionally overwhelming as I continue to pivot, but then I realize the improved story truly is so much better-cleaner.

It is a big part of writing. Writing, listening, reassessing, and rewriting.

Time to get to the next story!
