Orvie Pawgs: I Join the Ranks of Therapy Dogs

Saturday was woof-tastic! I became a Paws for Healing Therapy Dog. Mom has been working with me, but she knew since I was just a young dawg of two that I might be a little too energetic or distracted to pass. I’m not sure if it was my good looks or sweet boy antics that got me the gig. But hey! We use what we can, right?

I had never been to this training facility before. So many new smells. I had never seen medical equipment. That didn’t make me blink, but when they opened the rainbow umbrella in my face, I admit I took a step back. Hey, if someone popped open a huge-o umbrella six inches from your face, I bet you would step back ,too.

My favorite part was this place had a full wall of mirrors. I was gobsmacked when I saw myself. I just stared thinking, “Oh……that’s what I look like…..not bad…..looking good, Friend.” Mom had to get me back to the task at hand between her giggles.

The hardest part for me was sitting still for our picture. I like to face Mom, not sit in front of her. Weird if you ask me.

The bestest part was my parents took me for a puppacino after. Unlike the girls, I actually lick it and not swallow the whole hunk in two seconds. Honestly, they must get “freezy head.”

So now, I’ll be put on the rotation for the Napa LIbrary and listen to kiddos read in their Paws for Reading Program. The girls said they get lots of treats and pets. Sounds good to me! Come visit me at the library! Awoooo!
